"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them."
--Thomas Jefferson, Declaration of the Causes and Necessities of Taking up Arms, 6 July 1775
I am against revolution-- a violent warlike revolution. It will not precipitate any good change in our country. Our society is too secularized, too humanistic. A revolution with such a barbaric society would bring a lot of destruction and no good thing would come of it. See the French Revolution for an example of a debauched, class warfare, which is what we would have should we listen to the cries for revolution in this country.
Moreover, I believe that the powers-that-be would love a violent revolution. It's expected. They are even encouraging it. Look at the massive, purposeful devaluation of the American currency. They realize that economic collapse would bring rioting and social unrest. Why else are the military and law enforcement preparing for civil unrest and domestic terrorism? With the planned chaos that will ensue, there will be need for swift and violent retribution and arbitrary law.
Humanism, with its lack of any final base for values or law, always leads to chaos. It then naturally leads to some form of authoritarianism to control the chaos.
--Francis A. Schaeffer, A Christian Manifesto
It is not anarchy nor revolution that will save us. It is Christ who will save us.
Oh, now I realize that I have a large number of "educated" professional people who read this blog. Many believe that Christ was a fairy tale, is a crutch, was a good teacher but not God's own Son, etc. How great is your faith, unbeliever! What evidence do you have, beyond your own impressions, emotional reactions, and opinions of others, to back up your disbelief? Have you weighed the evidence for yourself? Perhaps you say that you have no time; what could be more important that seeking the truth about the matter? Wouldn't something like this have more importance to your entire life than that luncheon date or overtime at work? I've spent many years in intense research and study, and have come to the conclusion that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, and that the Bible is an accurate book. I strongly encourage you to seek it out and see for yourself.
I have examined carefully the evidence of the Christian religion;and, if I was sitting as juror upon its authenticity, I should unhestitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I have studied it, and I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man.

The answer is not revolution. The answer is revival. It has always been revival.
What do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations... This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution.
--John Adams, letter to H. Niles, 1818.
Before the American Revolution, there was what we now call the "Great Awakening," a time when the American colonies experienced a revived interest in seeking God and obeying His precepts. This is the "radical change" to which Adams refers, as he and his ancestors were located in its epicenter: Massachusetts.
I therefore issue a call to liberty-loving Americans: there can be no redemption of our liberties and our country through means of force. We need to experience and spread a radical change in our hearts and minds, a change in principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.... But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
--Jesus of Nazareth, Luke 6, Matthew 15
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.
--Paul of Tarsus, to the Athenians, Acts 17
